IN 7 is a 7-day experimental video art residency where artists and filmmakers develop site-responsive artistic films across Jersey City. The residency culminates in a public screening at Art House Productions during JC Fridays, showcasing all the works created over the course of the week.

Now in its sixth iteration, IN 7 shifts from its industrial birthplace at Gardenship in Kearny, NJ to the dynamic, diverse streets of Jersey City, using the city itself as a backdrop, muse, and collaborator.

Each selected participant will develop a short film inspired by Jersey City's landscape, architecture, communities, or histories. Artists from all diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. No prior experience with film is required, just a strong concept and a willingness to experiment.

While some artists may choose to work independently, others will be paired with collaborators such as videographers, editors, musicians, and other creatives to bring their vision to life. Selected artists receive a small stipend and production support.

While this iteration marks a departure from the original warehouse setting of Gardenship in Kearny, NJ, the core spirit of IN 7 remains: fast-paced, community-driven, and creatively charged. Instead of being anchored to one location, artists will have access to multiple Jersey City sites, a central headquarters, and creative and technical support throughout the process, albeit in a less traditional residency format.

This is a new chapter in the evolution of IN 7: rooted in place, powered by collaboration, and fueled by creativity.
